We are living in troubling times and you probably don’t need reminding of this, what with crime figures rising and social unrest in full swing. It is times like this when you need to carry out a home security review and with that in mind, here are a few ways that you can boost your home security.

  1. Motion sensor exterior lighting – Set up a couple of LED spotlights at the front and rear of the property and when someone approaches at night, they will automatically be illuminated. This would be enough to send an intruder running, which is a great deterrent, while it can also prevent a fall if you find yourself walking outside in the dark.
  2. Stainless-steel security screens – There is top-quality Invisi-Gard in Perth from a leading approved supplier and these screens do not make your home look like Fort Knox. They do, however, make forced entry impossible and that gives you peace of mind when you are away on holiday. Talk to a supplier and they would be happy to send a technician to measure up and give you a quote.
  3. Video surveillance – It is relatively inexpensive to install a few CCTV cameras in prominent positions, which not only protects the property, it also sends a powerful message to any would-be intruder. The typical house-breaker is an opportunist thief and as soon as they see video cameras, they quickly move on; there are, after all, many homes that are still unprotected.
  4. Keyless access control systems – The best person to talk to about keyless access is your local locksmith, who can supply and install any brand of keypad access system. Family members know the password and you can forget carrying around house keys, as they are no longer required. Ask any burglar and they will tell you is it hard to open digitally locked doors, so it makes total sense to switch to digital locking.
  5. Install window locks – Most break-ins occur via a window and if you have locks installed on all opening windows, you can lock up at nights and when you go away. All it takes is a downstairs window at the rear of the property and the thief is in!

We all need to review our home security and all of the above are effective ways to do just that. Don’t take chances and risk losing your valuables, be prepared by adding security here and there.
